The Director General of the State Police, Gledis Nano, held a meeting with the Deputy Ambassador of the OSCE and representatives of international and national organizations that focus on the protection of women and children.
During the meeting, Nano stressed that the protection of women’s freedoms and rights, gender equality and professional treatment of cases of rape of women and children is one of the priorities of the State Police. Nano also thanked the OSCE Deputy Ambassador for her presence, as well as the representatives of the organizations, for the mission they carry out, describing it as a sacred mission, in the interest of the social development of the country.
Meanwhile, the OSCE Deputy Chief of Mission and representatives of international and national organizations praised the invitation and the new spirit of cooperation and approach to resolving issues in favor of abused women, girls and children.
Nano: Today, for all of us, can not be just a day of celebrations, but as in the civilized world, first of all it is a day of appeal to one of the most vital objectives for the development and emancipation of a society, protection of the woman’s life. For a country that aspires to preserve the virtues and traditions with representatives of its people, but also integration into the European Union, the protection of women is first and foremost the protection of her life and continuity.
Last year highlighted not only the successive cases of hitting the image of women and girls, their role in the family and society, but at the same time deciphered the epicrisis of a society, which, unfortunately, still stands caught tightly after her past. In many cases, this past has created not only memory, but also consciousness, which means that the whole philosophy of our work will have to be transformed to prevent and reduce as much as possible cases of violence and crime in families, where for the most part the woman has the highest number of victims.
March, dedicated to women and girls, will be the start of an awareness campaign across the country, through meetings with the State Police, in each administrative unit, alongside you, representatives of civil society organizations, to raise awareness and increase the number of calls to operating rooms, from all those in need of assistance, to support and address their social security and protection needs.
The State Police, without any hesitation, will accurately carry out its work, but without a plan coordinated with your authority as a very important body in the progress of life protection and social integration of Albanian women, will have a lot difficult to penetrate into every labyrinth created by this tradition not at all worthy of a place with history and culture from the oldest on the European continent.
