The Governor of the Bank of Albania has been elected a member of the Supervisory Board of the bank.
The proposal for a second term as a member of the Supervisory Council means that Gent Sejko will run for a second term as Governor of the Bank of Albania. The Law “On the Bank of Albania” stipulates that the Governor is elected by the Assembly on the proposal of the President of the Republic.
The formula set out in the law requires agreement between the President and the parliamentary majority
Gent Sejko was elected a member of the Supervisory Council in 2015, as a proposal of the Council itself and was further elected as Governor of the Bank of Albania. He took office after the termination of the mandate of the previous Governor, Ardian Fullani, who was dismissed by the Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania in September 2015, after his arrest.
