The Syrian Civil Defense is battling the blaze that erupted after a fuel depot was hit in the area of the rebel city of Idlib. The bombing killed three civilians, pro-Western observers said, and hit farms around the camouflaged depot in the Dana area.
The building between the cultivated lands functioned as a fuel depot for the rebel forces but was eliminated by artillery and government planes, witnesses said.
A large number of firefighters came to the scene to extinguish the flames that released large plumes of smoke into the sky, AFP reporters said.
British-based Syrian observers said the depot was owned by a rebel-linked fuel company in Idlib, northwestern Syria.
