As I promised you, every two weeks, on Tuesdays, I will be in front of you to communicate on some of the work of the Anti-Corruption Directorate in the Ministry of Justice. I will start today’s cases with civil status officials here in Tirana.

The first case belongs to BiH, which has realized a fictitious marriage between a prisoner in the Italian state and an Albanian citizen, for a fee. The work of the Anti-Corruption Directorate has started after the lady who appears as a wife, has made a complaint for the unblocking of biometric documents. Following this complaint, the specialists of our directorate have launched an investigation that has resulted in this forgery against the reward at hand. We have filed a report with the prosecutor’s office for forgery of documents by a civil registrar and abuse of office.

The second case has to do again with the civil status here in Tirana. Citizens SA, ET, and EN, have been charged in the prosecutor’s office with forgery of documents by the civil registrar and abuse of office. The ladies in question, in cooperation with each other have falsified civil status acts for marriages. These are the marriages you have heard about, so they are commonly called to get English documents. Because these marriages are suspected to have taken place after giving bribes against these employees. Following the verifications made by the specialists of the Anti-Corruption Directorate, the case was reported to the Prosecutor’s Office.

The third case concerns the National Agency of Protected Areas. A giant building, with a bar-restaurant function, set up inside a protected national park, does not turn out to exist. At least that is what the Regional Director of Protected Areas, the head of the sector and the specialist referred to in their report for 2021: So there is no construction in the national park. A complaint has been sent to the address of the Anti-Corruption Unit in the Ministry of Justice, setting in motion our specialists, an investigation which has concluded with a report to the prosecutor’s office for these persons for abuse of office and the request to initiate disciplinary proceedings for dismissal. .

The last case I thought to share with you today belongs to the Regional Directorate of Taxes in Durrës. We have recommended to the General Directorate of Taxes the beginning of disciplinary proceedings for the Regional Director of Taxes Durrës DT, the Head of Sector D.XH and the inspector BL Kthese persons in cooperation with each other have fined without physical control, ie from the office, with a sum of 10 million ALL a subject in Qerret. The subject, rightly, after this action has requested his right by complaining to the Anti-Corruption Directorate in the Ministry of Justice.
