PLATFORMA CURZIO
For a full union of Democrats and all Albanians with a right-wing vocation with the Democrats
As every Albanian may have noticed in recent days, after all that great democratic upheaval of recent months, the Democrats and our democratic camp no longer produce any news for Albanians, even the straw socialist congress, behind which is hidden a strategy even The most brutal rule of the Albanians made more news than the Democratic camp, which often had peripheral announcements of the district elections that divided even the last democrats who resisted. This is because the PD scenario in the created conditions knows what it will be like, it is also known what it will produce. Everything will produce, only victory over this regime, no!
Although the party that occupied the building in all pseudo-legal forms, perhaps even illegally, categorically denies the other party in the DP, that party really exists. There are thousands and thousands of democrats all over Albania who feel unrepresented by Foltorja, who distanced themselves from her language, who were not included in the lynching campaign that she produced among the democrats.
If you add to it the silent part that does not speak or the part that has been finally withdrawn from activism with the DP, but that would go back to better times of the DP, it is likely that all this be much more than the structures allegedly being built at an inexplicable speed under the leadership of the Re-founders. Just look at the photos of the election campaign of April 25, 2021 and the photos of the so-called current elections for the PD structures at the base and you understand where the PD has gone. You seemed to be naive, not to say shameless, not to understand this, and even continue to justify it with the election joke of March 6 this year.
So will we go to the next election? By denying and excluding from the unification process an honorable part of the Democrats, who have sacrificed thirty years of their lives for the chairs of a thief who stole, robbed and gained all the privileges, and who surprisingly still has morals to announce that she will be the PD reformer? There is no Democrat who believes in this anymore, and this is the target of historical scrutiny and reflection that will hold together or eventually overthrow the DP.
Democrats are still in time, if we want to seize the time and if we really want to fight the regime they face. It all depends on the wills, and they seem to have no consideration to beat them.
But what is the DP today?
Today’s PD is a house inhabited by an alliance of divided democrats: democrats who were born and will die like this no matter what happens to the leaders in the PD, from those who adore Berisha, by grace or by inadvertence, by the numbers after him, by fanatics to “kill” for Berisha, from those who have begun to give parliamentary minutes for him and others turned into his clones even though in political prematurity, from sworn supporters of Basha, others completely careless with both and determined to remove the two, others temporarily withdrawn waiting for a third to join them, and many others. Most are from the latter. How can all these currents and democratic sensibilities that pray and expect a strong and winning party unite?
There is only one way to true unity for Democrats, a union that can not happen without “sacrifice” and my ranks are addressed first to those who understand the essence of these sacrifices, which go beyond the personal. I know this will not please them much, but by declaring the need for these acute sacrifices, I have the peace of conscience of someone who has said things when they need to be said.
This union is obliged to start from the sacrifice of Sali Berisha, similar to that of the legend of Curzio, the essence of which I am saying briefly: after the earthquake of 362 BC in Rome, in the Forum, in the place where politics took place and were taken decisions, such a large pit was dug, the filling of which could only be achieved by throwing in there the most valuable thing the Romans had. Marco Curzio, a young warrior armed with weapons and ornaments, convinced that their most valuable thing was courage, saddled his horse and jumped into the abyss, which closed as soon as he closed his eyes.
But unlike legend, time Democrats are required to sacrifice an old warrior. Or rather, that this old fighter sacrifices himself for the PD. This is the first condition that the earthquake we have suffered close the wounds, and this is the historic hour of the PD. It demands not only the withdrawal of Sali Berisha, but also the unabashed avoidance of a swarm around him, which unfortunately remind Albanians of the year 1997, thefts with oil holes and mines, cars with hundreds of thousands of euros that roam the streets and all the abuses for which there is no Albanian to vote for anymore. They no longer have anything to say to the Democrats and what the Albanians no longer trust.
Following this respectful and unifying withdrawal, an open process must begin which begins when the parties acknowledge that they are parties and decide:
1. Establishment of the Union Party Council of the Democratic Party (Group, or Commission), composed of members elected with the understanding of both parties, a flexible, hard-working and open-minded group, authoritarian and unspoken, and not more than 10 -15 people. This Council, which will be entrusted with the process of unification and opening of the Democratic Party, will be assisted by a staff, mostly young people, who will prepare the entire infrastructure to complete the project of unification of the Democratic Party. DP, which should start immediately.
The Council of the Union of the Democratic Party should immediately after its establishment:
– To announce: The full unification of the Democratic Party under one logo, under one slogan. For this the PD Union Council should make a full tour based on each region and local structure, in order to convey the conditions of the union and establish the lost ties with the Democrats wherever they are. This should be a sincere and persuasive action, which will bring a new spirit and atmosphere of credibility among Democrats.
To declare: A full political, moral, ethical, spiritual amnesty among Democrats. Ask Democrats to put an end to old and newly planted grudges and ask them to start over.
– To declare: The invalidity of the unilateral elections conducted so far in the local structures by the Re-establishment Commission, a process that has left out a good part of the Democrats and to prepare the conditions for the new comprehensive elections.
– To announce: The opening of the Democratic Party to the Albanian society, to the civil society and to anyone who wants to contribute to democracy, to the personalities of all fields and especially to the New Albanian Diaspora, which is ready to influence the fate of the country .
– To announce: The immediate opening of the election campaign for the leader of the Democratic Party, which will continue after the opening of the Democratic Party, through a long, transparent, honest, equal and promotional process. Maybe not all competitors will be DP chairmen, but they will form the core of its future leadership. To give the opportunity to girls and boys with contributions to the DP, but also other social contributors and those of the Diaspora to compete in the leadership of the Opposition. To create all facilities and equality in the promotion of Democrats at the grassroots, but also of the figures selected by the selection process for its central structures. To prepare local forums for the recognition and promotion of individual programs of pretentious candidacies, on equal terms in the media and quite different from the unpleasant experiences we have gone through in the election process so far.
– To announce: September as the time for the election of the new Chairman of the Democratic Party and for the Heads of Branches in the districts, enough time for unification, restructuring, analysis, election and promotion of the best. Always according to the principle one member one vote.
2. The establishment of the Council of Wise Men of the Democratic Party (or Senators), which will be an advisory body throughout the unification process and elections. Undoubtedly, it would be an honor for this council to be led by Sali Berisha and to include in it figures with valuable contributions, such as A. Meksi, J. Topalli, A. Patozi, D. Shehaj. L. Basha, G. Ruli, P. Zogaj, M. Bregu and others who would not be spared in the unification and re-establishment of the DP.
All of these are processes and will take time and patience, but above all a pull of all parties. Tired of successive losses, Democrats are waiting for their leaders to lead them into the abyss of victory. But victory can not come without understanding the wrong groove and without sacrificing for a cause beyond the personal.
