He indicated that in his beginnings the biggest concern was to realize the re-entry of the opposition into the elections.

During the interview, Meta said that during these five years he has only felt like the president betrayed and undermined by friends and enemies for any reason, considering it a difficult journey.

“My concern was not how I was elected but the goal was how I would do my best on how the opposition could enter the elections and leave the tent because it was an attempt by the prime minister and some internationals to leave the DP in the tent. President Ilir Meta during the interview with journalist Sokol Balla also spoke about the hot situation during the election campaign of April 25, where he said that April 25 would be more serious than the event in Elbasan where Pjerin Xhuvani died, if he did not want to intervene.

“I do not know what the SMI is today and it is not my duty to say that. April 25 would be much more serious than the tragic event in Elbasan, all over Albania, if the President had not intervened. The municipality without any administrative act without any paperwork for hours had blocked water, energy. The problem is that through manipulations they have tried to sabotage the reputation of the internationals, there is no more correct politician in Albania than Ilir Meta. We have a relationship with the US, especially with the US constitution, which I am inspired by. I can assure every citizen of Albania and the USA that Ilir Meta’s relations with the USA are perfect. Meta, who is in the last two months of his term as president, said at the end of the interview that it is too early to make an assessment of his ‘performance’ in that post but believes he has kept the provocation under control and the tension he had.

Meta expressed reservations about the next president, but said that what is certain will be that the next president will find it difficult to be independent, as according to him both teams are already one and the president finds it difficult to be an arbitrator in such a situation.
