The visit of the Chief Rapporteur for Albania to the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CDU / CSU Parliamentary Group in the Bundestag, Peter Beyer has revealed through a post the three-day visit to our country.
He emphasizes that the focus of the visits was on two points, that of Albania’s membership in the European Union and the situation in the Democratic Party.
Regarding EU membership, Beyer stressed that Albania should not be a victim of Bulgaria’s embarrassing blockade and should be invited to the next intergovernmental conference as a concrete next step in the EU accession process.
Regarding the situation in the DP, the reporter stressed that Albania needs a united and strong opposition.
The senior Bundestag official made clear the difficult position that the DP will have in the international arena with Sali Berisha at the helm, giving a very clear message that there are no collaborations with persons declared ‘non grata’.
Full post:
I have been in Tirana / Albania for three days for high political talks. The focus was on two topics:
Albania’s EU membership:
Albania should not be a victim of the shameful blockade of Bulgaria. Albania should now be invited to the next intergovernmental conference as the next concrete step in the EU accession process.
The situation of the Democratic Party, PD:
Albania’s parliamentary democracy needs a united, strong opposition. The personal agendas of individuals should not play a role outside of responsibility for the country. It is clear that any kind of cooperation with a “persona non grata” both nationally and internationally is prohibited from the beginning. This is a common, undisputed position that we strictly represent in unison with our friends in the US.
