A mega operation was conducted yesterday by the police who discovered the cooperation of the prison police officers with the convicts who were taking drugs and other illicit items in the cell.
Among the 28 people involved is the well-known name of the criminal world, Gazmir Braka, known as “Gaxhai”, as well as the arrested Hysni Ndreu, acting head of the Elbasan Detention Center. Among the other prominent names involved in this mega operation are Arben Grori, Klajdi Gjeçi, Aleksandër Sinanaj and Aleksandër Llanaj.
Gazmir Braka, 50, a resident of Vlora, formed in March 1997 the group known as the Gaxha gang. He together with a group of friends from the city of Vlora, but also from other cities, among them and many people already killed, created the gang that would later be known as Gaxha’s gang.
The fact that, having the village of Cerkovina as its center, the members of the gang never carried out criminal activities in that village, also serve the purpose of organizing this armed gang. From the statements of the villagers, it turns out that Gaxhai together with the other defendants, to create the idea of an organized group that occasionally defended the area, helped the villagers with money. It is also proven that many citizens who had conflicts with various people in Vlora went to Gaxhai in Cerkovina to solve their problems.
Among the detainees is Arben Grori, who is accused that in cooperation with prison officials managed to enter narcotics inside the cells. Arben Grori, was sentenced to life imprisonment in 1999 by the Fifth Criminal Court of Milan in Italy, a decision that was later recognized and upheld by the Court of Appeals, also in Milan. Grori was found guilty of killing Zyber, in a hospital in Milan, where he was hospitalized.
Also Klajdi Gjeci, a friend of Emiliano Shullazi, who was caught in Tirana for selling narcotics in May 2020.
While Aleksandër Sinanaj is suspected as one of the robbers of a bank located in the neighborhood “Hajro Çakërri” in the city of Vlora.
On the other hand, this cooperation also includes the convict Aleksandër Llanaj, who was found guilty of killing three young people in April 2015 in Vlora and was sentenced to life imprisonment and then to 35 years in prison by all three. levels of the judiciary in Albania.
The charges against these persons are drug trafficking, entry of prohibited items into the prison premises, as well as the transmission of messages from inside the prison for the commission of criminal offenses.
