France announced today that due to the increase in Covid cases in Britain only certain categories of travelers will be allowed to travel and anyone coming from Britain should be self-isolated.
Truck drivers, however, are exempt from restrictions, easing concerns about further delays in the supply chain.
“The aim is to avoid as much as possible the spread of the Omicron variant,” said a French government spokesman. In Britain the Omicron variant is spreading rapidly. France so far has only 240 confirmed cases, far fewer than Britain.
Under the new restrictions, only French nationals, those with a permanent residence permit in France, those performing vital functions and travelers with a transit stay of less than 24 hours will be allowed to enter France from Britain. The new rules take effect after midnight on Friday.voa
