At the Kakavija checkpoint on Christmas Eve there is an increased influx of citizens on both sides of the border.
Only during the last 24 hours, about 5700 people have circulated, most of them, about 4200 at the entrance to Albania. The framework of measures for Covid 19 obliges them to submit to the authorities a vaccination certificate or a PCR test or rapid antigen. In case these documents are missing, the persons are obliged to be quarantined for up to 10 days and their isolation is followed by the health services near the addresses they have given at the border. The incoming citizens are from all over Albania and in most of them they have a long time without visiting the family due to a difficult year but also the limitations dictated by the pandemic in both countries.

About 1500 citizens were registered to leave Albania in the last 24 hours. For them, in addition to the vaccination certificate, a negative PCR test or a quick entry into Greece is mandatory. The tightening of measures and restrictions on gatherings during the holidays in the Greek state has somewhat reduced the movement.
Also PLF (passenger locator form) must be completed by every citizen entering Greece at least one day before the trip.
