More than 100 people have been stranded on the top floor of a building in Hong Kong after a fire broke out inside it and are waiting for help.
The fire that broke out suddenly in the World Trade Center there, left no other way of escape than gathering on the roof.
Some people inside the building have already been evacuated, but others, especially those who were in the center’s restaurants, got stuck inside its premises.
Eight people were injured as a result of the fire; they are aged from 31 to 72 years.
Firefighters, says Reuters, have been fighting the flames for several hours and are trying hard to save the citizens.
Eyewitnesses say the fire alarm went off 10 minutes before the smoke appeared. The staff had tried to calm them down by telling them that something had just been burned and that they should not be afraid.
“We were not told there was a fire,” said Meiling Lai, who was trapped along with 80 other people on the fifth floor of the building. The fire in the 38-storey building was reported around noon local time.
