Foreign travelers who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19, even with a negative test, will no longer be able to enter Finland as of Tuesday, the government announced, imposing measures to combat the omicron variant.
Entry into the country will be possible only for foreign travelers with a negative test for COVID-19 and those who can prove that they have been fully vaccinated or that they have overcome the infection, the Ministry of Interior announced today after the government meeting.
A Border Service spokesman confirmed to AFP that unvaccinated foreigners will be rejected, except those under the age of 16 or those on the exclusion list. “Regardless of the foreign national’s origin, everyone must show a vaccination certificate and a negative test no older than 48 hours,” said Tomi Kivenjuuri, a representative of the Finnish Border Guard.
The measure, which entered into force at 14:00, also applies to citizens of the European Union and to persons born before 2006.
