Finland’s national railway operator, VR, announced the closure of services between Helsinki and St. Petersburg, effectively closing one of the last railway lines between Russia and the European Union.

Alex, a resident of Helsinki, says that he will not have any problems with this decision.
“The closure does not affect me personally at all. “However, in general I do not see a positive development, because it leaves ordinary Russians on the streets.”
The border between Finland and Russia, meanwhile, will remain open to private cars.
