Fierce clashes continued today between Israeli forces and Palestinian demonstrators after days of military violence against protesters and worshipers at the Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.
The Israeli army also carried out the first air strike on the Gaza Strip in response to a rocket fired by Palestinian militants.
The army and special forces made five arrests this morning in the West Bank, where there has been a series of deadly Israeli attacks since the start of the demonstrations, writes AFP.
The Israeli military said air systems had neutralized a rocket coming toward the territory as they added that in response they had hit from the air a weapons depot of the Hamas militant group.
The riots erupted when Palestinian worshipers in Jerusalem faced restrictions on prayers from Jewish pilgrimage to the temple, accompanied by police.
The Palestinians are in the Muslim holy month of Ramadan while the Jews are in the celebration of the Resurrection of Christ, which brought clashes similar to those of other years in this period.
