The star Fidel, one of the most famous athletes in the 90s, in an interview for Top Story recalls the time when he had to make important decisions for his career.
He confesses that in addition to his passion for sports, he decided to get involved in business, after considering the advice of his friend’s deputy, Gramoz Pashkos.
“Sport is my life. Everything I have achieved in life I dedicate to sports. Horse sport with patience, concentration, friendship. Makes you a very social person, educates you. And I think that sport was the one that gave us the initiative in those years, in ’93 -’94, which were difficult for all Albanians. I remember an expression of my friend Gramoz Pashko who said: Fidel, those who are staying here in the DP do not know what will be done, they do not think that now is the market economy, they should open a business and who should be good, to tea.
And I started a business, that besides the sport that I have not shared a single moment, becoming a businessman, unlike my friends who simply chose to be physical education teachers. “These were difficult times and quick decisions had to be made.”
I dedicate everything to the sport, says Ylli, “that the sport of wrestling is a sport that in one hundredth of a second you can be in the air and you have to think about how you will fall and where you fall”.
