Well-known Irish singer Sinead O’Connor threatens to sue the hospital that let out her teenage son who had previously attempted suicide, two days before the 17-year-old was found dead.
The well-known singer of the 1990s says that the hospital of the Irish capital Dublin, Tallaght Hospital, refuses to take responsibility for the departure of her son Shane and his announcement of his disappearance.
The 55-year-old mourning mother confirmed that the teenager had lost his life as he described her as “the light of my life”.
In homage to her son, she wrote: “My wonderful son, Nevi’im Nesta, Ali Shane O’Connor, has decided to put an end to the struggle here on earth and is now with God.”
“He rested in peace and let no one follow his example, my child, I love you very much, may you be at peace.”
Police had previously appealed for the missing teenager since Thursday.
His mother, who has three other children, had publicly begged him to go to the police and not to hurt himself.
But now Sinead condemns the policies and actions of Lynn Ward hospital staff who did not do enough to protect the troubled teenager.
She said: “How can a troubled 17-year-old under suicide supervision get lost from Tallaght Hospital ???”
“The hospital refuses to take responsibility for their duty. The lawsuit is coming ”.
During the days he was lost, the mother prayed for her son to return home.
She wrote: “Shane, your life is so precious. “God did not engrave that wonderful smile on his face in vain.”
“Please do not hurt yourself. “Go to ‘Gardai’ to be escorted to the hospital”, added Sinead, referring to the local police.
Police said in a statement: “Following the discovery of a body in the Bray area today, the search for the missing person in connection with 17-year-old Shane O’Connor has been suspended.”
