Edison Pula, the man who in Albania blew up the careers of two police officers after escaping in the moments they were putting him in prison, has broken the bars of his cell again, but this time in Italy.
The 27-year-old, known as the master of escapes and serial thefts, left Treviso prison together with two other Albanians, the latter arrested within a few hours.
But more than the theft episodes in Italy and Albania and the involvement in drugs, the fugitive Edison Pula’s name is linked to one of the trityl assassinations organized against people investigated for stealing a vehicle used to kill Chief Commissioner Ditan Lamaj .
The phone number that activated the tritol bomb on September 19, 2016 in Gentjan Bejtjes’s vehicle, badly damaged at the time, betrayed Elidon Pula and his associates.
Serious crimes investigated at that time the target of the assassination of Pula, Gentjan Bejtja, together with Enver Stafuka, as the thieves who secured the “BMW” car from where Dritan Lamaj, Martyr of the Fatherland, was shot.
For the assassination attempt that aimed to annihilate a person who has knowledge of the perpetrators of the murder of a police officer like Lamaj, the prosecution took under investigation not only Edison Pulaj but also Oltion Caca, both charged with premeditated murder and explosion with explosive.
This investigation together with the guilty verdicts has been recourse to the High Court, together with other episodes for which the fugitive is accused in Albania of theft and drugs.
In Kruja, two days after he was taken as a defendant in December 2016, Edison Pula escaped from the hands of two police officers, Denis Çela and Naim Stafuka, fleeing. Police officers who were arrested for abuse of office said that as soon as they got out of the car to put him in the police station, the suspect took advantage of the open door and left.
