A page on the Facebook network where the American truckers’ protest against the forced vaccination was being organized was closed yesterday by the media giant, which was called by the long-distance drivers “pure censorship”.
The American Truckers’ Freedom Convoy follows the example of their Canadian counterparts, driving from California to the capital, Washington, DC, to oppose vaccination rules across the United States.
Group page “Convoy to DC 2022” on Facebookwas closed yesterday for violating policies on the ‘Qanon’ group, the network reported Fox News .
Truck driver Jeremy Johnson, who had set up the Facebook group, said his personal profile had also been deleted, so he had contacted a civil rights lawyer to file a lawsuit.
“They prefer to shut up people who tell the truth,” Johnson told Fox News.
Brian Brase, who helped organize the American truckers’ protest, said he was shocked by the censorship measure by Facebook company Meta.
“I feel like laughing,” Brase told Fox News. “They asked the administrators to remove the posts and did not even give them the option to consider the content.”
“The presence of so many people shows that they are unhappy with what is happening,” said protester Mike Landis, adding that truckers demanded the removal of the vaccination requirement through peaceful protests.
Facebook has previously announced that it is banning all administrators and sites linked to the American rebel-conspiracy group QAnon, largely because of their principle that governments are controlled by pedophiles who worship the devil.
Meanwhile, tens of thousands of truckers and demonstrators have descended on the Canadian capital, Ottawa, to challenge the forced evictions of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
The latter left office and announced this week that he had tested positive for the virus but demonstrators say it is an excuse to avoid confrontation.
Truckers in the US have set March 1 as the day of their protest, according to the Freedom Convoy to DC 2022 GoFundMe page.
