The names of Hekuran Marku and Agustin Deda appeared in the interceptions of a mega operation of international drug trafficking, corruption, abuse of office and money laundering, codenamed “Spirit” that took place in July between the Albanian authorities and the Italian Antimafia.
Agustin Deda and Hekuran Marku at the time of committing the criminal offenses in 2016 were on duty as members of the escort group of the former Minister of Interior, Saimir Tahiri, but they are no longer part of the police ranks as in 2017 they have leave the task.
The operation showed that Agustin Deda and Hekuran Marku in cooperation with four Italian citizens and an Albanian citizen named Eltjon Bregu trafficked 1016 kilograms of cannabis by sea from Albania to Italy, which was seized from citizens Fiqiret Seferi and Ferhat Ajdini who were arrested. in the framework of the proceedings 16654 of the Bar’s prosecution.
In the decision of July 4, 2021, the Court against Corruption and Organized Crime imposed the measure of imprisonment for Hekuran Marku and Agustin Deda.
This international anti-drug operation, carried out simultaneously in 4 countries, was finalized with 28 detainees, including a prosecutor, a director and three senior Albanian Police officers.
The arrests were made in Albania, Italy, Montenegro and Spain. Investigations for this operation were conducted from May 2019 to January 2021, which made it possible to collect important data on 38 Albanian citizens.
