45 years have already passed since the execution of the poets Vilson Blloshmi and Genc Leka.
The Institute of Studies on Crimes and Consequences of Communism organizes the exhibition “45 years since the execution of the poets”.
The exhibition brings before the public photographs and documents on the life and activity of these poets. Their execution symbolizes the systematic crime of the communist dictatorship on speech, thought and art.
The process against the two poets started in May 1975 and involved 39 people. After the trial, intellectuals Vilson Blloshmi and Genc Leka were sentenced to death in 1977.
The Supreme Court did not reject this decision and the Presidium of the People’s Assembly did not accept the request for pardoning the lives of the poets.
After several years of research, the place of their execution was discovered in the spring of 1994. In April 1994, their remains were buried with all honors in the cemetery of the city of Librazhd.
