A 29-year-old man was killed after the conflict that occurred a few minutes after midnight on “Irfan Tomini” street in Tirana.
Police reports that the young man Jurgen Duka (Meziri), had a conflict with a still unidentified person, where the latter shot him with a firearm.
The victim, about 29 years old, could not escape the injuries received and died at the University Trauma Hospital.
Police are working to identify and apprehend the perpetrator where they have questioned the victim’s friend and other persons at the scene, while the causes of the conflict between them are still unknown.
It is learned that Jurgen Duka is a person with a previous criminal record.
In 2020 he was handcuffed along with Elison Hysenbelli as part of the anti-drug operation between Italy and Albania that took place in Marche, Emilia Romagna, Lombardy and Liguria and would be extradited to the neighboring country for trial.
It remains unclear how the victim was released from the cell, while work continues by authorities to identify and arrest the perpetrator of the murder.
Operation “Riviera” was conducted by the Regional Anti-Mafia Prosecutor’s Office in Bologna, in cooperation with the Carabinieri Special Operations Group (ROS) in Bologna.
