Florian Përvathi is one of the most discussed names in recent months in Albania. The 17-year-old killed Lek Lekgjonaj on January 24, 2022. The young man from Lezha “took the blood” of his father, Gjoni.
Ndue Lekgjonaj, Leka’s brother, took his life in 2009. That day, Flori’s mother drank photoxin, ending her life. The boy was orphaned at the age of four.
Florian grew up with the idea of bringing honor to the country and taking his father’s blood. He found the moment in January this year by executing Lek Lekgjonaj. Albania Live has managed to penetrate the juvenile institution in Kavaja where the 17-year-old is staying. Florian Përvathi spoke for the journalist Eraldo Harlicaj.
“One of my days here is quiet. I deal with various activities. I paint a lot, I like paintings. When I get bored I go into the room and paint. I want to exhibit my paintings, but also donate them to charity.
“I miss freedom more than anything. I’m inside while my friends are outside. Time does not turn, I have nothing to do. When I came here I realized I was wrong.
“I have never had a psychologist close by to guide me and keep me on track. I first met the psychologist and social worker in prison, when I no longer need it.
“I did not grow up with the idea of blood feuds. I was not encouraged by my family, but I did it myself. It was a moment that ruined everything for me. Leka constantly provoked me, so I could not stand it anymore and undertook the final act. If he did not provoke me I would not be here today
“I made a mistake and I regret it, I express my condolences to Leka’s family. I will continue school and painting. “I hope that when I go out I will go to school and open exhibitions”, – said Florian Përvathi, among others.
