German prosecutors are investigating footballer Jerome Boateng after the death of his ex-girlfriend, Kasia Lenhardt, who ended her life a few weeks ago.
The case against Boateng, which was first opened in 2019 before it was closed last year, has now been reopened by prosecutors after new information emerged from the Berlin police investigation following Lenhardt’s suicide.
Boateng is accused of intentionally injuring Lenhardt in October 2019 – just over a year before the split that ended with her death in an apartment in Berlin earlier this month. German media “Bild” reports that the model’s autopsy revealed damage to one of her ears and there are suspicions that such a damage was done to the 32-year-old German.
If everything is proven, then Boateng will be charged with injury. The Chief Prosecutor of Munich has stated that they have received some new information in the context of the investigation, which will continue.
Boateng had accused Lenhardt of blackmail with false accusations while she accused the footballer of infidelity. Bayern Munich defender Boateng announced their split last Tuesday (February 2) via an Instagram post where he said he was disappointed with the decision but should have done so.
