During “Pink October” Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Evita joined the cause by enabling Mentor® breast implants for a patient with a genetic predisposition.
Based on the results of tests performed to identify the BRCA-1 and BRCA-2 gene, a 39-year-old patient had a high predisposition to be affected by breast cancer in the future. To drastically reduce the risk of developing this pathology, she decided to voluntarily remove the breasts and perform their plastic reconstruction.
The intervention was performed at the University Hospital Center “Mother Teresa”, by oncoplastic surgeons Prof. Ass. Helidon Nina and PHD. Dimitrios Varvaras. This voluntary reconstruction of breasts with reconstruction is also the first case in the country, which is performed in a public hospital.
How is breast reconstruction performed?
Breast reconstruction consists of removing the central tissue, preserving most of the breast skin, and positioning the prosthesis under the skin or chest muscle.
This intervention presents a challenge and difficulty in the public sector, as prostheses are costly and must be provided individually by the patient. For this reason, the company Evita sh.pk, supported the patient in its journey, enabling breast implants, selected by the world-famous brand MENTOR®.
Rated as the number one global brand for breast aesthetics, MENTOR® products are FDA approved in the United States and have undergone numerous clinical trials, further confirming their safety and effectiveness.
With more than 30 years of experience in the market, MENTOR® is guided by the needs of patients, combining innovation and safety, to guarantee high quality standards. MENTOR® is part of the large family of medical and pharmaceutical products, Johnson & Johnson.
