Every Sunday will be the day without cars starting from April 17, an initiative undertaken by the Municipality of Tirana to dedicate one day a week to pedestrians. This initiative aims not only to reduce air pollution but also to bring a new culture to the capital.
Restriction of car traffic will affect only a few segments in Tirana, starting from 09:00 in the morning until 15:00.
The restriction affects Dëshmorët e Kombit boulevard from the Ministry of Interior to the former Dajti Hotel. From the Bridge of the “former Hotel Dajti” to the intersection with the street “Ismail Qemali” and the segment of the street Myslym Shyri – from the intersection of the High Court with the exit to the Boulevard “Dëshmorët e Kombit”
In the rest of the capital car traffic will continue normally. The Municipality of Tirana is turning it into a tradition already on Sunday without cars. Even earlier such days were held which were filled with activities mainly for children, many of whom rode on bicycles and monopaths.
