As the war takes on an innocent life every day, for weeks, volunteers and staff at a zoo near Kharkiv have helped evacuate the animals to protect them from Russian bombing.
This week, volunteers were moving African buffaloes. As the animals were loaded into transport on Wednesday, the park was again put under artillery fire.
In tears, Oleksandr Feldman, the park’s owner, said in a Facebook post that a 15-year-old volunteer had been killed in the attack. He helped to feed and evacuate the animals.
Feldman said the teenager was the sixth member of the zoo team to be killed.
