Shaip Kamberi managed to secure another parliamentary mandate from the April 3rd parliamentary elections in Serbia.
This time he will be the only MP from the coalition of parties with which he competed, due to the low turnout of Albanians in these elections.
Shaip Kamberi: The voting of Kosovo Serbs in Bujanovac, I think, at least in this city has affected the turnout because people are afraid that there may be an incident. Even in this mandate, I will continue our political engagement in the central parliament for the rights of Albanians.
Six thousand Albanians from the Presevo Valley could not vote in the parliamentary elections in Serbia this Sunday due to the passivity of the settlement by Serbian institutions.
On condition of anonymity for Top Channel, the Albanians of the Valley indicated that they were asked to choose between Kosovo and Serbia.
“Pat the moment it has made me passive, I can neither vote, nor get a document, nor renew and nothing, until those documents have a deadline, at the moment those documents come out, I am no longer a resident of Presevo. I was told that the order came from Belgrade and you have to decide, either here in Presevo or in Pristina.“
The passivity of the addresses for the Albanians of the Valley is also considered as a modern ethnic cleansing, which pushed the President of Kosovo to react. She said that through this method, Albanians were denied the right to vote.
On April 3, Serbia organized parliamentary and presidential elections, but Albanians did not vote for president as they do not feel represented, and this was demanded by Kamberi. However, the leader of the other list of Albanian candidates, Shqiprim Arifi, voted in the presidential election, raising suspicions that he had an agreement with the current Serbian president, Aleksandar Vucic.
The latter announced his victory on Sunday evening, after the preliminary results. This made the Serbs of North Mitrovica in Kosovo drive out to the town square to celebrate. During the holiday, they also used weapons and pyrotechnic devices. Thus, the Kosovo police launched investigations into causing general danger, although they did not arrest anyone.
