Estonian Foreign Minister Eva-Maria Liimets has stated today that Estonia will end its dependence on Russian gas.
According to the Minister, the images of the killings in Bucha have changed the public opinion of Russia around the world and because of this every country has to make decisions to end financial relations with Russia.
She added that it was unfortunate that the European Union had paid 35 billion euros for Russian energy since the start of the war, calling it a disproportionate split compared to aid it has provided to Ukraine since the start of the war.
The Estonian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications announced earlier that Estonia and Finland had agreed on a joint lease of a floating LNG terminal, guaranteeing a supply to both countries without relying on Russia.
The floating terminal is scheduled to be ready by autumn.
