Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said today that Russia’s recognition of separatist regions in eastern Ukraine is unacceptable.
The Turkish leader further called on both sides to follow sound logic and international law.
Speaking from his tour of Africa, Erdogan called for diplomatic solutions to the crisis.
“From the beginning we have made sincere efforts to resolve tensions with our Black Sea neighbors,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said that Russia’s decision to withdraw from the 2014 Minsk agreement is a violation of Ukraine’s unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Regarding the consequences of Ukraine-Russia tensions in the Black Sea region, Erdogan said how every country in the region Turkey will take its measures, and has already taken a number of them.
To help find a solution, Turkey said it was ready to participate in the UN Security Council, along with Germany, as proposed by Ukraine.
