Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in a telephone conversation today, told his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin that he wanted to see a meeting with him and Ukrainian President Volodymir Zelenskyy.
According to a statement he made today, Erdogan underlined the importance of a joint meeting between them as this would better resolve the situation. He said that hopes for peace have been revived after the meeting that the Russian and Ukrainian delegations had a few days ago in Turkey.
The Turkish president also expressed Turkey’s desire to crown peace efforts by bringing together the Russian president and his Ukrainian counterpart.
For his part, Russian President Vladimir Putin thanked President Erdogan for hosting a meeting between the Russian and Ukrainian negotiating delegations in Istanbul.
