Genesis singer Grimes said in an interview with Vanity Fair magazine that she and SpaceX owner Elon Musk “welcomed” a girl together despite claims of “separation” late last year.
The 50-year-old billionaire founder of the space group SpaceX, and the 34-year-old musician are already the parents of their newborn daughter and son named X Æ A-Xii.
Grimes said in the interview that her family had ‘grown up’ as her daughter had started crying from the upstairs room during the interview.
She did not reveal her daughter’s name in the interview but indicated that the newborn is called ‘Y’.
The name “Y” fits the style of their son, whom they call “X”.
Grimes explained that “Y” was born in December 2021 to a surrogate mother.
The development comes months after the couple said they split.
Elon had confirmed earlier in September that he and Grimes were “half separated” but remained on friendly terms.
Elon had said: “It’s my work with Tesla SpaceX that forces me to be mostly in Texas, and she with her work has to be mostly in Los Angeles.
“She is now staying with baby X in the room next door.”
But the couple have not been seen together in public since the announcement.
Grimes told Vanity Fair magazine: “I could even refer to him as ‘my boyfriend’ but we are very changeable, we live in separate houses. “We are friends and see each other often.”
The couple had said they wanted other children, telling Vanity Fair magazine they wanted “three or four.”
Elon was previously married to author Justine Wilson, with whom he has five sons: 18-year-old twins Griffin, Xavier, 18, and triplets Damian, Saxon and Kai, 16.
He has also been married to actress Talulah Riley, whom he married in 2010 but divorced in 2012.
