The manager and technical director of the poultry breeding and egg production company, AIBA, has clarified in a press release how the bird flu started, emphasizing that they are waiting for the government’s reaction for the elimination of chickens.
Manager Artan Luku stressed that they rejected the claim for laryngotracheitis from the beginning and with specialists from Italy and Hungary came to the conclusion that it was H5N8 avian influenza.
“The whole process started a week ago when the mortality of chickens strangely increased. We notified the authorities, who came to the conclusion that we have laryngotracheitis. From the beginning, in consultation with specialists in Italy and Hungary we countered the presence of laryngotrachea and the same thing had happened in 2 other complexes. 2 weeks ago, a complex destroyed the chickens, after that another complex and then the signs started to appear in us as well.
With our insistence we came to the conclusion that we have avian influenza H5N8 which not only harms farms but also human health. The situation has remained in a legal stalemate between the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Agriculture. To our knowledge, the emergency headquarters has gathered and is trying to find a place to bury the carcasses. It is expected that the Ministry of Agriculture and other authorities will immediately issue an order for the elimination of those leaders who are alive. We are keeping the leaders alive because we have no way of managing them. If we were to remove the plug, we would have no way of managing them because now the living heads are more dangerous.
For such cases there is a lack of legal infrastructure for burial. It is very important for us that this process is open, transparent. We think it is better to come out right than to hide an illness and be a public health problem.
