“It is urgent that strong action be taken to reduce transmission and ease the pressure on the health system, to protect the most vulnerable groups in the coming months,” Ammon added.
The head of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said on Tuesday (December 14th) that the Omicron variant has been reported in 77 countries and is likely to have spread to most countries, undetected “at a rate we have not seen in variants.” others”.
Tedros also warned that Omicron should not be called “easy”, because according to him, although this variant causes milder diseases, “the number of cases can overload the health system.”
