A police officer of the Kukes prison has been handcuffed after drugs were found hidden under his sock in a pack of cigarettes during the search.
The policeman’s identity is still unknown and whether he intended to distribute or sell the marijuana weighing 16.65 grams divided into doses to the prisoners.
The materials were referred to the Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of First Instance in Kuka, for the criminal offenses “Production and sale of narcotics” according to Article 283 of the Criminal Code and “Introduction and possession of prohibited items in the IEVP
“On 19.07.2022, at around 11:00 p.m., the employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs with the duty of a police officer at IEVP Kukës was arrested in the act, because at around 3:00 p.m., while entering the institution after the exercise of control by his colleagues, he found on the left leg under the sock of 1 (one) package with the inscription “Malboro” wrapped with transparent glue (natriban), where inside it were 20 (twenty) doses of suspected narcotics (marijuana), weighing 16.65 gr. The first actions were carried out and the materials were referred to the Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of First Instance in Kuka, for the criminal offenses “Production and sale of narcotic substances” according to article 283 of the Criminal Code and “Introduction and possession of prohibited items in the IEVP” according to article 324/a of the Criminal Code”according to police.
The police say that they continue the investigative actions for employees and other citizens involved in this activity.
