A ‘petty’ drug lord and his accomplice girlfriend have been caught by British police on the luxury life and exotic holidays they advertised on social media.
In addition to the prison sentence, they have been ordered to pay back 30,000 pounds of their ill-gotten gains, writes the Daily Mail network.
Christopher Williams, 32, made more than £100,000 from his heroin and crack cocaine ring in Barroë-in-Furness in northern Britain.
His 26-year-old girlfriend Lauren Callister earned her share by “laundering” his illicit money.
But while members of Williams’ gang spread their misery on the city streets, Callister’s jetted off to Thailand on holiday, basking in sunny beaches and luxury villas.
Callister was reported to have laundered around £15,000 of Williams’ dirty money through her own bank accounts. The beautiful trafficker bragged on social media that she was vacationing in the “most beautiful villa in the world” and posed in a bikini with her boyfriend on the famous beaches of Pileh Lagoon.
Meanwhile, according to police, Williams’ field soldiers moved between Merseyside and Barrow, distributing and recruiting people to keep their operations alive.
But their network collapsed when police identified the source of their traffic messages and Williams was arrested for distributing heroin and cocaine.
Late last year he was jailed for eight-and-a-half years by Preston Crown Court.
He admitted that he had drawn Callister into the drug ring as well, and that saved him from prison.
All the gang members were jailed for more than 40 years, authorities said.
