A confessional letter was found in the car that crashed into a crowd of people on a Berlin street, killing one and injuring about 30 others, according to Sky News.
The German newspaper Bild quoted an investigator as saying: “This was not an accident at all, someone mad, a cold killer.”
But the city’s interior minister, Iris Spranger, denied having a confession letter and instead claimed to have several banners in the vehicle.
The 29-year-old driver with German-Armenian citizenship has been arrested, Berlin police said.
Berlin police spokesman Martin Dams said earlier that it was not clear if it was an accident or the driver had intentionally crashed into the crowd.
He was driving a small Renault car, Bild reported. According to witnesses, he initially left, but then the police managed to handcuff him.
