Montenegrin Prime Minister Dritan Abazovic informed public and secret police chiefs that groups close to arrested National Security Agency officer Petar Lazovic and his father, Zoran, also a former senior police official, are targeting him and are planning revenge for his imprisonment.
Abazovic informed the Minister of Internal Affairs Filip Ajic, the director of the Police Administration Zoran Brđanin and the director of ANB Sava Kentera about the information he is receiving, says Vijesti. According to the newspaper, the prime minister asked to collect data on this matter.
“The arrested officer, Petar Lazović, has a problem with the law. I hope this is clear to anyone who wants me and my colleagues to continue pursuing our mission of establishing the rule of law, from which I will not budge an inch, despite threats, extremist tone and hate speech. On the contrary, attempts at sabotage are futile. I know this causes disappointment to many people, but we have shown that Montenegro is walking the path of freedom and there is no place for drug cartels, cigarette smugglers or corrupt elites”, said Abazovic, adding that “groups of those close to Lazović are trying to create an atmosphere in which, from the position of the prime minister, I am allegedly putting pressure on the prosecutors to prosecute Lazović and the criminal business group around them.
At the beginning of February last year, Europol and Eurojust managed to hack communication through the encrypted Sky EC application.
The following month, judicial and law enforcement authorities in Belgium, France and the Netherlands monitored the correspondence of criminals across Europe, resulting in the collection of key information on more than a hundred large-scale planned criminal operations.
Some time later, Europol submitted to the Montenegrin Special State Prosecutor’s Office (SDT) the transcripts of messages exchanged through that application, explaining that policemen Petar Lazović and Ljubo Milović corresponded and cooperated with leaders and members of the “Kavač” criminal clan.
