The by-elections in six municipalities of the country showed that the Democratic Party has lost its loyal electorate.
In five of the six municipalities where local elections were held this Sunday, the candidates of the coalition “House of Freedom” created by Sali Berisha and the Socialist Movement for Integration received more votes than the candidates of the Democratic Party.
The party meeting will be held today at the blue headquarters. Asked by journalists whether the leadership of the right and the leader of the Democrats, Lulzim Basha, should take responsibility for the deep loss, the Democratic deputies have shown reservations. Most of them did not comment, while Ervin Salianji described the situation in a single word: “Terrible day, without question.”
Grida Duma said that the result is disappointing and important decisions must be made for this, but said that she will not give her opinion to the media after saying it at the PD meeting:
“The result is disappointing, in one way or another, completely unexpected. “Responsibility must be taken and political decisions must be made.”
