The leaders of the branches of the Democratic Party, in the meeting that is taking place this Sunday at the blue headquarters, have expressed support for the leader of the Democrats, Lulzim Basha, while emphasizing the need to unite the Democrats.
Pëllumb Seferi, chairman of branch 8 in Tirana, during the meeting said that we should not rush with emotional solutions and personal interests, but to work for unity and threw the idea of creating a negotiating group with Sali Berisha’s rostrum. According to him, the by-elections on March 6 were a plan of President Ilir Meta and Sali Berisha to strike Basha.
“Members of branch 8 have expressed support for Mayor Basha. March 6 was organized by Berisha and Meta to hit Lulzim Basha. He also had the support of Rama, he is interested in an isolated person from the West. The reason was the decision to suspend Sali Berisha from the group. Berisha is not at war with the DP, but with America and uses Basha’s name to defend himself. We need to stand up and not make emotional choices. Solutions come from us, we have legitimate bodies “.
Seferi has asked the Democratic deputies to be careful, because if they demand Basha’s resignation, they must put their mandate on the table.
“No one has won the mandate themselves, we are also shareholders of their mandates. Join together to set up working groups from both sides. There must be will on both sides for this. We need people with integrity. Take the options of both sides, former party leaders, membership and find a solution. But our Euro-Atlantic approach must prevail there, so there is no turning back from the September 9 decision”.
The chairman of the PD branch in Kuçova, Ilir Koçia is of the opinion that a solution should be found first for the unification of the party and then to discuss the removal or not of Lulzim Basha from the leadership of the party:
“I do not understand those who want to leave the DP in this difficult moment for the DP, without offering any solution. I understand that no one in the Democratic Party, a parliamentary group, thinks of Berisha coming, but how we will unite the party. That is the question today. How can Lulzim Basha leave and leave the PD in the cyclone of clashes with Sali Berisha, I do not agree! We need the solution. The mayor has made it clear that he is ready for any kind of solution. “We have to set up a commission with two groups and people who are neither with us nor with them.”
According to him, there are people who have been between the two parties, there are people who can help at this moment to find solutions, but “it is enough not to be people shopping with Rama”, adds Koçia.
While the head of the Fier branch, Agron Kapllanaj at the meeting he tossed out the idea of setting up a joint commission to unite the Democrats.
If the rostrum does not accept, the commission leads the DP until the elections, he said.
“The September 9 decision for Berisha does not change. We need to find a mechanism to join. We discuss the proposals we make with you, but have you seen on the other hand someone say these that we are asking you? No, they are not afraid to speak out against Sali Berisha. The September 9 decision on Sali Berisha cannot be changed”.
According to Kapllanaj, the easiest way is to open a race in the Democratic Party, but this would hurt the right more:
“Let go of the election date and enter the election. Does that do us any good? I think not. Do you unite the Democrats? No, maybe it will hurt them more, it will crack more. We can set up a commission of 10 people, and we take an action to unite the Democrats 5 members from PD and leave the rostrum to bring 5 people. Of course he saw Berisha and Basha. If they do not come, this structure will lead the DP for a period of time until the next election process”.
