60 people are suspected to have died after an airstrike on Saturday on a school in the Luhansk region where 90 people were housed.
Serhiy Hayday, head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, said 30 people sheltered at the school had been rescued, of whom seven were injured.
The bodies of the two men were found in the rubble, Hayday said in a Telegram post on Sunday, adding that “it is likely that all 60 people remaining under the rubble of the building were killed.”
Luhansk has experienced fierce fighting in recent days as Russian troops and separatist fighters seek to encircle Ukrainian government forces, just over two months since the start of the Russian occupation.
Meanwhile, in the port city of Odessa, 6 Russian missiles hit.
The attack came after military authorities in Kiev claimed that one of their drones had sunk a second Russian ship in the Black Sea, near the famous snake island, where fierce fighting is taking place.
Meanwhile in the devastated city of Mariupol, All women, children and the elderly who were sheltered in the Azovstal steel plant in Mariupol have been evacuated, Ukraine’s deputy prime minister said on Saturday. Ukrainian fighters continue to resist to prevent a complete invasion of Mariupol. Taking control of the strategically important port on the Sea of Azov would give Moscow a land bridge to the Crimean Peninsula, which Russia annexed from Ukraine during an invasion in 2014.
