As the battle for the east of Ukraine intensifies, Russian forces are “increasingly focused on establishing control over the city of Severodonetsk, where 12,000 civilians are said to have been stranded without food, water or medicine.
The governor of the Donetsk region, Pavlo Kyrylenko, has published images from the ground, accusing Russia of “insidiously” bombing a residential area in the city of Slovyansk.
The attack, which is said to have taken place overnight until Tuesday, marks “Russia’s next war crime on our soil.” said Kyrylenko in a Facebook post.
“The whole territory of the Donetsk region is now a battlefield.” he further added.
The Ukrainian chief prosecutor also said they had identified several thousand suspected war crimes in the eastern Donbas region.
“Every day in Ukraine we have 200-300 additional war crimes. To date we have approximately 15,000 war crimes cases alone. We started investigating several cases involving the forcible transfer of children and adults to different parts of the Russian Federation. “Then, of course, we can talk about torturing people, killing civilians.” said the prosecutor.
