A dog trapped underground in a deep mud pit for more than two days has been rescued alive from the joint efforts of firefighters and animal activists in Britain.
Rescue teams were called to the scene in Coalville, Leicestershire, yesterday at noon when the owner spotted his dog trapped for more than a day.
The dog had entered the pit and could no longer get out after being trapped in the mud.
Firefighters who arrived at the scene had to use specialized tools to hear the dog barking to know where to dig.
Other rescue teams were called to the scene until the noises emanating from the dog brought it to its localization.
Services confirmed that the dog was rescued last night around 7pm and reunited with its owners.
The pus pit is believed to have been inactive and not used by other animals so it was closed and a sign placed on it to prevent other animals from being in similar positions.
