The well-known doctor, Tritan Kalo, celebrated his 66th birthday quite differently. As a sign of appreciation for his many years of contribution to Albanian medicine, he was given a special reception by the Municipality of Tirana and the mayor Erion Veliaj.
Along with friends and family, Kalo felt appreciated as he received a symbolic gift from the mayor on this special day.
“As the mayor, but also as a friend, as a citizen of this city, which we share together – a city that is not perfect, but that is grateful – I wanted to give you a special congratulations on this day special birthday, for all the invaluable contribution. You are a “runner” of our city, of this city that should always appreciate the good more and more, should be inspired by the right, by peace, by those who unite and do not divide people. Professor Tritan Kalo is undoubtedly the most dignified figure of this description,Veliaj said.
The mayor expressed his special gratitude for the long-term contribution of the well-known infectious disease doctor, who was also at the head of the most recent and most difficult battle, the one with the Covid 19 pandemic.
“I also want to speak on behalf of those who have experienced your kindness, your care, but perhaps never had the opportunity to say thank you. Thank you for all the kindness, the love, the dedication, for proving to us every day that good triumphs over evil, that light, wisdom triumphs over ignorance, over darkness, and that this city has a strong foundation. I know that sometimes, maybe unintentionally, maybe on purpose, a noisy minority gets more attention, gets more resonance, is heard more, but they are not the majority of the city. The vast majority of people are good, they are knowledgeable, they are wise, they invest in knowledge, they invest in science, they believe in reputable people, they do not go after the next hysteria, they go after knowledge, knowledge, service, selflessness,” underlined Veliaj.
For his part, Professor Kalo expressed his happiness for this special surprise on an important day for him.
“It is a special surprise and pleasure, a gift from the first of the city. Tirana has already grown, almost most of the Republic lives here. With the size of the growth, it resembles an Athens, which represents 2/3 of all Greece. As a doctor, I have dedicated myself to this profession because I understand that my fellow citizens need people who are more dedicated to the mission than passion. The mission also compensates for the passion, and especially the doctor must be a missionary before succumbing to the fever of passion. I am a bit of an idealist, I have remained so and I believe I will remain so. Thank you very much”said Kalo.
Professor Tritan Kalo has been serving as an infectious disease doctor at the Hospital for Infectious Diseases, QSU “Mother Teresa” for almost 40 years.
