A Russian attack has hit a reservoir of nitric acid in the eastern Ukrainian city of Rubizhne, causing a cloud of toxic smoke to cover the entire area.

Officials in Ukraine appealed to residents not to leave the shelters and close the windows, and to protect themselves from nitric acid fumes and fog, gas masks are used.
“When applied topically to the eye, nitric acid causes severe damage to necrosis of the cornea and conjunctiva, leading to vision loss,” said one official.
“First aid: if nitric acid gets into your eyes, rinse with running water for 10-30 minutes. In case of skin contact, wash affected area with water, adding baking soda and soap. If nitric acid is ingested, drink plenty of water. “Follow the direction of the wind! Can’t wait for it to rain, it will help! Keep in touch! Follow the information signals! ” he added.
