An investigation aimed at cracking down on alcohol smuggling from France to Albania, and which during inspections revealed in a wine warehouse 426 biometric passports of Albanian citizens has forced the prosecution and police to divert the investigation and seek documents proving that courier Sami Xhebrahimi, who appeared before the court was authorized to transport them.
From the investigations carried out after the discovery of the wine warehouse and the passport, it results that the suspect who works as a transporter was provided with a certificate number 75 from the embassy of our country in Paris to submit biometric documents to the relevant office in the Ministry of Europe and Outside.
Asked by TCH the foreign ministry insisted that biomeric documents belonging to Albanian nationals had been collected during at least the last six months in France and were reported as lost or invalid passports and were expected to be submitted by Xhebrahimi to the interior foreign ministry dated April 10th.
But there is still no explanation from either the ministry or the prosecution as to why the biometric documents of Albanian citizens were being transported through a citizen who is not an employee of this ministry. 426 passports and bottles of wine have already been seized in connection with the ongoing investigations against Xhebrahimi, arrested for smuggling. investigations from which apparently neither the foreign ministry nor our embassy in Paris has been excluded.
The 392 bottles of wine according to the suspect were donated to exhibitions of world-famous shapes in Bordeaux, France.
During the closed session, Judge Vjollca Spahiu released the suspect and sent him under house arrest. in court it was stated that the search was requested by the general directorate of customs with the support of the judicial police after the suspicions that in the warehouses of the 65-year-old wine was collected and sold without the fiscal stamp.
The suspect insisted that during the visit to France the well-known wine producers had made him gifts or sales at a cheap price, and that all the bottles found were for family consumption. As for the passports, he insists that he would hand them over to the institution where he was authorized, even though they are already in the hands of prosecutors.
