A patient and the barrel driver who accompanied him were injured around 23:30, in the “Mother Teresa” hospital in Tirana, after the elevator they were traveling in suffered a defect.
According to the Top Channel journalist, Dorjana Bezat, the barrelist took the 80-year-old patient to the -1 floor and they would go upstairs.
Between the -1st floor and the 1st floor the elevator broke down and opened, injuring both people inside.
The 80-year-old received the most serious injuries, while the nurse received leg injuries. After the event, the 80-year-old underwent surgery. The elderly woman received head injuries and was sent for more specialized treatment to the Trauma Hospital.
In Commissariat no. 4 of the Police was accompanied by the elevator technician who was contracted by QSUT for maintenance and testing.
It is previously suspected that the elevator broke off one of the weeks and crashed between the floors.

The University Hospital Center informs that last night, in the emergency room of internal diseases, during the transport of a patient for radiological examinations, an incident occurred in one of the elevators.
The patient, accompanied by the nurse and the load-bearer, at the exit of the elevator, had injuries, together with the load-bearer, as a result of a defect of the elevator.
The nurse and medical staff immediately provided the necessary assistance to the patient and the caregiver.
The patient was then consulted by specialists for this injury, as well as continued consultations and examinations for the disease and after performing a contrast scan, resulted in pulmonary thromboembolism, a diagnosis for which is under the supervision of the medical team.
QSUT informs that all elevators are in a complete maintenance system by the company contracted for the maintenance service, which are performed periodically, according to the contract in force. Further expertise is expected to assess the cause of this incident.
