Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov will attend a regular meeting of the European Council (EC) on Thursday and Friday, the government’s press service announced on Wednesday.
Topics on the agenda include the wider Europe, the situation in Ukraine, applications for EU membership from Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova and Georgia, economic issues, the Conference on the Future of Europe, and foreign relations.

Topics on the agenda include the wider Europe, the situation in Ukraine, applications for EU membership from Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova and Georgia, economic issues, the Conference on the Future of Europe, and foreign relations.
The EC will hold a strategic discussion on the EU’s relations with its partners in Europe, including how to promote political dialogue and strengthen the security, stability and prosperity of the European continent.
The agenda will also include the proposal of French President Emmanuel Macron to create a European political community, as well as various aspects of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.
Forum participants are expected to approve country-specific recommendations as part of the 2022 European Semester and discuss Croatia’s approval of the euro in January 2023, based on its convergence report.
The EC will discuss the Conference on the Future of Europe, in particular the proposals outlined in the final report presented to the three co-chairs of the Conference on 9 May.
Prime Minister Petkov will attend a meeting of EU and Western Balkans leaders early Thursday ahead of the June European Council meeting. The leaders will discuss progress in EU integration and the challenges posed by Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, key investments under the Economic and Investment Plan for the Western Balkans.
The European Summit will take place in comprehensive format on Friday. The meeting will be attended by eurozone member leaders, who will discuss the current economic situation of the eurozone./KosovaPress
