From July 18, the cybercrime sector of the State Police and the Prosecutor’s Office of Tirana have started investigations regarding the cyberattack on the e-albania platform.
Investigations are being carried out for 4 criminal offences: illegal interception of computer data, interference with computer data, interference with computer systems and misuse of computer systems
Foreign and Albanian IT specialists have come to the aid of this investigation and are repairing the system and submitting their findings to the authorities.
Top Channel learns that so far, two synchronized attacks have been identified that allegedly came from 2 different countries outside of Albania. With the help of international authorities, the sequestration of 4 accounts from where it is suspected that the Albanian system was attacked at the same time was decided.
As of Wednesday, 1118 electronic services have been activated and are functional. Experts and investigators are checking the servers to verify if the cyber attack has resulted in data deletion or misappropriation.
Until now, no findings have been found and the verification is ongoing. There are also 107 electronic services in the investigation filter which continue to be closed as the risk is still considered potential.
The Cybercrime Sector in the State Police is also exchanging information with partner authorities in Europe that have had similar attacks in their countries.
