The heavy consumption of electricity led this Friday the police effectives, after the suspicions raised, to the discovery of a cryptocurrency laboratory in a village of Shijak.
Sources from the police said that one person has been detained and over 200 devices have been seized, while work continues to fully uncover the case and other persons suspected of being involved in this activity.
The premises where the equipment for the production of cryptocurrencies were found, according to the police, was rented in the village of Pjesëz and was used by some people from Tirana.
Police indicate that the production of electronic money was illegal, as the persons involved in this case did not obtain a license for this activity.
It is learned that the laboratory was spotted after the suspicions raised by the effectives, as in other cases of detection, due to high electricity consumption in the area.
It is not yet clear the charge against the person who was detained by the police, after the discovery of this laboratory.
