Croatian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Tomislav Koric stated that plastic bags with a thickness of 15 to 50 microns will no longer be used from January 1, 2022 and other types of plastic bags will be gradually withdrawn from use in the coming period.
The mentioned category of bags that are thrown out of use includes most of those that are used in the market every day, Hina reports. Qoriq said that this was a measure envisaged by the Law on Waste Management, the implementation of which was delayed to enable the adaptation of producers and distributors.
He stressed that the use of reusable bags is being promoted, namely paper bags. “In the coming period, over time, other types of bags will gradually be withdrawn. “At the moment it is not like that, this is the first step”, he said.
Asked when other plastic bags will become obsolete, he said the goal is to bring this measure to life first and then move on to a solution for ultra-light and reusable plastic bags.
